OLA Energy history

1993

Start of investments in Africa

Tamoil starts its downstream business in Egypt as part of Oilinvest, a European-based holding company.

2000

Establishing a footprint in Africa

Tamoil Chad S.A., Tamoil Niger S.A., Tamoil Mali S.A. and Tamoil Burkina S.A. are incorporated.

Shell Eritrea is acquired.

Tamoil Africa Holdings Limited is incorporated in Malta to consolidate Oilinvest’s activities across Africa.

2007

Further diversification

The Group expands its portfolio through nine ExxonMobil affiliates are acquired in Niger, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Cameroon, Kenya, Réunion, Tunisia and Morocco.

Joint Oil and Altube acquired, further strengthening the Group’s energy infrastructure activities.

Libya Oil Holdings Ltd is incorporated, later becoming part of today’s OLA Energy group structure.

2008

Accelerated growth across Africa

Five Shell affiliates are acquired in Niger, Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Sudan.

2018

Group-wide rebranding process that started.

Started a rebranding of its corporate identity in 2018 which changed the name of its retail brand to OLA Energy.

Formerly known through entities including Libya Oil Holdings Ltd and Tamoil Africa Holdings Limited,
